Farm Simulation, Tariffs, and Egg Prices
January 23, 2025
Welcome to Thursday
It’s still quite a cold day in much of the country. Although as usual many weather outlets are pointing out climate change dilemmas, such as 2024 being the “warmest year on record” coming from the National Weather Service.
Wildfires continue to rage on in California. Which is dismal to see. It has continued on for a good while now, now totalling over 37,000 acres burned across the state.
Everyone is struggling to predict the impact looming tariffs will have on commodities. I could see it going both ways. It’s going to make forecasting and budgeting for the next year even more difficult than it usually is. Many take a pretty negative view of it, although there is rarely any mention of long-term effects only short. Time will tell - Farmprogress
There is still plenty of demand in the land market. You might expect a drop off in valuations with the broader economic situation, but they seem to be holding steady. Its just a different game with such limited supply - Croplife
Bird flu continues to rage and cause issues. Egg prices have jumped significantly and there doesn’t seem to be anyone who has a way of seeing the end of this outbreak. - foodpoisoningnews

Skyrocketing price of eggs
With demand falling off for Ag equipment there is potential to get better deals on fairly new used stuff. Inventories are fairly high on dealer lots around the country. At least that is what reports say. I haven’t exactly seen prices coming down myself - AGweb
I’m not exactly sure who buys and plays this game, but Farming Simulator 2025 is out on the market for all kinds of different platforms. Either I’m totally out of the loop or I’m not really the target market for this game, but I pulled it up today at its astonishing some of the features it has and how detailed it is. It’s hard to believe a farmer in real life will want to get off a real tractor and start driving a digital one at home though - farming-simulator

It does look pretty cool sometimes
See you tomorrow with more quick news!
